Thousand-plus candidates vying for 391 posts in Lamjung

As many as 1,043 candidates have filed their nominations to contest 391 posts at various local bodies in Lamjung.

The district comprising four municipalities and as many rural municipalities has 37 candidates running for the post of the chief of these bodies, while another 27 are running for the post of deputy at various local bodies.

While 229 candidates have filed their nomination for ward chairperson, nominations of 185, 176 and 389 candidates have been filed for the post of woman-only ward member, Dalit woman only ward member and other members respectively.

Beshisahar Municipality has witnessed four candidates each representing different political parties. They have filed their nominations for the post of mayor and deputy-mayor.

Thirty-five nominations have been filed for the post of ward chairperson here. While 7, 4 and 44 nominations have been filed for the post of mayor, deputy-mayor and ward chairperson respectively from Sundarbazaar Municipality.

Four, three and 29 nominations have been filed for the same posts from Madhya Nepal Municipality.

Nominations filed for the post of mayor, deputy mayor and ward chairperson stand at six, three and 34 from Rainas Municipality.

As for rural municipalities, four and two candidates have filed nominations for the post of chairperson and vice-chairperson from Dordi Rural Municipality.

From Marshyangdi Rural Municipality, nominations of three and four candidates have been filed for the post of chairperson and vice-chairperson respectively.

Nominations for the post of chairperson and vice-chairperson stand at six and four in Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality and three and two in Kholasothar Rural Municipality.

Lamjung has a total of 110,856 registered voters.
