Sarlahi Police have arrested an auto-rickshaw driver and two women with 22.82 kg of marijuana, police said.
A police team deployed on the basis of a special tip stopped and searched an auto-rickshaw travelling towards Lalbandi from Nawalpur in Lalbandi Municipality-9. Police found the marijuana concealed in five packets inside the vehicle.
The auto-rickshaw, bearing registration number Province 03-001 Ha 2445, was intercepted in front of Ajjali Hospital, according to the District Police Office, Sarlahi.
Those arrested have been identified as auto-rickshaw driver Sushil Sah, 30, of Churekali in Harion Municipality-2, and passengers Jagatarn Sah, 25, and Radhika Sah, 25.
Police said the arrests also indicated the use of women in the transportation of narcotic drugs.
The Sarlahi District Court has granted seven days' remand for further investigation into the narcotics case, said DSP Bed Prasad Gautam, spokesperson for the Sarlahi District Police Office.
