KATHMANDU, JULY 29
At least three people were killed and 21 others injured in 42 disaster-related incidents reported across Nepal within a 24-hour period, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said Tuesday.
The incidents occurred between 10:00 am July 27 and 10:00 am July 28, affecting 10 districts. No one was reported missing during the period.
Snakebite and landslide cases were the most common, with 12 incidents each, followed by seven fire incidents, six cases of heavy rainfall, three wild animal attacks, one flood and one earthquake.
Preliminary assessments put property damage at Rs 922,500.
The NDRRMA said that since the start of the current Nepali year on April 14, Nepal has recorded 3,788 disaster incidents, leaving 192 people dead, three missing and 1,139 injured. A total of 5,004 families have been affected during the period.
