RAJBIRAJ: Three houses were gutted after a fire broke out in Portaha-5 of Saptari district on Tuesday evening.

Police said preliminary assessment suggested properties worth more than Rs 1 million were reduced to cinders in the incident.

The fire broke out from one Sanjha Devi's house and spread to two others in the neighbourhood, according to locals.

No human casualty was reported.

The fire was contained in an hour by locals and security personnel.
