BHOJPUR: Three houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Mangtewa of Silichong Rural Municipality-4 in Sankhuwasabha district.

According to Sankhuwasabha Police, the fire began at the house of local Pratap Kumar Rai at around 4:30, Sunday afternoon. The fire destroyed Rai's one-storey house including Rs 25,000 cash, half tola gold, food items, clothing, utensils, among other things causing a loss of about Rs 499,000.

Likewise, Pratap Kumar's neighbour Amrit Maya Rai's one-storey house was also engulfed in the fire along with Rs 10,000 cash, silver, food items, clothing, utensils, and solar panel. The loss has been estimated at Rs 350,000, according to District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha.

The fire also spread to Ayodh Kumar Rai's one-storey house causing an estimated loss of Rs 443,000.

Police said, the fire was brought under control only around 6:30 pm yesterday with the help of police personnel and locals.
