Three ill jailbirds die in a week

Two inmates at the district jail in Biratnagar, Morang and one at the regional jail in Jhumka, Sunsari died in the last one week.
Jailer of District Jail Office, Morang, Prem Prasad Sapkota said Prakash Katwal and Mahadev Sah from the jail died. Katwal, who hailed from Jalpaiguri in India, was doing time in a human trafficking case. He died while undergoing treatment at Nobel Medical College, Biratnagar, yesterday. Katwal was set to be freed after 16 months.
Another inmate Sah was serving time in a drug-related case. He breathed his last while being treated at Koshi Zonal Hospital, Biratnagar.
The district jail has seen a rise in the number of inmates, of late. The jail authority is preparing to send 11 ill inmates to Kathmandu for treatment, said the jailer.
He further said more inmates fell ill today in the jail. As many as 10 prisoners are being treated at the two Biratnagar-based hospitals now.
