Three Indian nationals held

RAUTAHAT, July 7

Rautahat police yesterday arrested three Indian nationals who were swindling locals pledging monetary support up to 2 lakh rupees allocated by the Indian government in the district.

Area Police Office Garuda arrested the three persons from Dudhiwata Tole of Fatuwa Harshaha VDC-6. They were made public at a press conference on the premises of Area Police Office today.

The arrested have been identified as Sujit Kumar, 25, Sandip Kumar Kuswaha, 20 and Ranjit Kumar Kuswaha, 22.

Police informed that trio had swindled locals by pledging to provide up to Rs 2 lakh from the Indian government depending on the scale of damage caused by the April 25 earthquake.

Inspector Santu Lal Prasad Jaiswar said that police had arrested them while they were cheating locals by showing fake rubber stamp of the Indian government and bogus forms.

“They were making locals fill out forms costing Rs 200 and pledging that they would provide up to Rs 2 lakh from the Indian government,” Inspector Jaisawar said.

Police have seized a motorcycle, a laptop, 398 forms, and rubber stamps. Inspector Jaisawar said that action would be taken against the trio.
