Three killed, 24 hurt in separate mishaps
Biratnagar, August 14:
Three persons were killed and 24 injured in two separate road accidents today.
Liladevi Limbu,19 and her sister Urmila of Kalyankari Secondary School at Singhadevi and Bal Bahadur Batuwal, 23, of Uralabari-2 were killed and 15 others injured when a microbus bound for Biratnagar from Ilam met with an accident in Biratchowk-Salakpur section of Mahendra Highway, the police said.
Liladevi died on the spot, while Urmila and Batuwal died on the way to the Dharan-based BP Koirala of Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), inspector at the Belbari Area Police Post, Mahendra Thapa, said.
The critically injured Jaya Bahadur Rai of Dhaijan-6 in Jhapa and Sarita Khatiwada of Singhadevi are undergoing treatment in the BPKIHS.
The speeding microbus overturned while trying to save a cyclist near the Jharna bridge, the police said, adding that the students in the microbus were on their way to appear for their SLC supplementary paper scheduled for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, nine persons were injured when a bus bound for Biratnagar from Itahari collided with an Indian truck bound for Itahari from Biratnagar near the Kanya Campus in Biratnagar, the Morang District Police Office said.
