KATHMANDU, JULY 11
Three people were killed and seven others seriously injured after a jeep veered off the road in Bajhang district on Saturday afternoon.
The jeep (Su Pa Pra 01-001 Cha 2644), travelling from Kadachaur in Kedarsyu Rural Municipality-7 to Chuhawan in Durgathali Rural Municipality, met with the accident at around 4 pm, according to preliminary police reports.
Rescue efforts were hampered by adverse weather after a Nepal Army helicopter dispatched to airlift the injured failed to land at the crash site and returned to Chainpur, the Sudurpashchim Province Police Office said.
The District Administration Office said local authorities and security personnel were continuing rescue operations, while three to four ambulances were dispatched from Chainpur to transport the injured.
Preliminary police estimates suggest 14 to 15 people were travelling in the jeep. The identities of the deceased and the cause of the accident were yet to be ascertained.
