KATHMANDU, MAY 25
Three people died after a jeep plunged into the Madi River from a bridge along the Prithvi Highway in Tanahun on Saturday night. The bridge connects Byas Municipality wards 3 and 4.
According to the District Police Office, the jeep (Ga 2 Cha 5760), en route from Damauli to Chapaghat, broke through the bridge railing and fell into the river.
The deceased have been identified as Prabin Thapa Magar (35), Kumar Thapa (22), and Kushal Thapa (20), all residents of Byas Municipality-5. They succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Damauli Hospital.
Two others were injured in the crash. One of them, who is in critical condition, is being prepared for transfer to Pokhara for further treatment, while the driver sustained minor injuries.
There were five people in the vehicle at the time of the accident, it has been reported.
Rescue efforts were carried out by the Nepal Army's Kalibhanjan Battalion, Nepal Police, and local residents.
