Three more swindlers arrested in Ncell app fraud case

Police made three more swindlers public for their involvement in cheating people through the use of Ncell app at a press meet organised in District Police Office, Panchthar, today.
District Police Office, Bara and Parsa were able to arrest Bali Ulla, 22, of Bihar India, Jakir Husain, 24 and Mahataf Alam, 24, of Bara district, from Birgunj Bus Park area on February 29, informed DSP Krishna Prasad Koirala of District Police Office, Panchthar.
He said the arrestees were brought to Panchthar. He informed that police had seized Rs 50,000 and three mobile phone sets from them. Police, however, are still searching for Sumit Sharma of Rajsthan, India, who is the alleged mastermind of the case.
Earlier, police had arrested Prakash Dahal, 18, of Gauradaha, Jhapa and Megnath Giri, 32, of Pathari, Morang with regard to the case.
A fraud case was filed against Dahal and Giri at the district court. DSP Koirala said Sharma had swindled two locals of Bara and Parsa districts of Rs 146,000 through the Ncell app.
Police investigation showed that Sharma used to call people by posing as Ncell staff and told them they had won bonus balance amount. He then asked them to send some money as tax amount citing that the bonus balance could only be transferred once the customers paid the ‘tax’.
Police said as many as 28 Ncell numbers were used to cheat people till date.
