Three-year contract a must for principals

Damauli, March 20

Byas Municipality in Tanahun has a introduced a new rule in which principals of community schools will have to sign a contract before being appointed to the post.

Earlier, following a correspondence from the municipality towards the end of the last fiscal, each community school in the municipality had recommended a name for the post of the principal to the municipality.

Having received the names for the post of principal, the municipality, through the Municipality Education Committee, has started appointing principals by making them sign a three-year contract.

Byas Municipality Education Department Chief and Under-secretary Ambika Acharya confirmed the new practice they have started, saying, “So far, principals have been appointed this way in 55 out of the 80 community schools inside the municipality. Principals will be appointed in the remaining schools soon.”

The new rule was meant to make principals accountable to their jobs.
