Nepalgunj, March 19:

At last Kala Devi Dura has breathed a sigh of relief as her paralysed husband Channu Dura was admitted to Kohalpur Medical College today.

Residents of Durga VDC of Jumla district, Dura had been taking refuge under a tree with her husband and three children for the last 10 days. She managed to take him to hospital with the help of several individuals and organisations following the publication of her story in The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post recently.

Earlier, the college had discharged Channu Dura, calling the case hopeless. Dr Jitendra Dev Mahaseth, deputy-director of the college said they would take care of him on humanitarian grounds. The hospital authority stated that it had treated him for free earlier and recommended him to Bheri Hospital where it would have been better for the destitute family. Mahesh Raj Pandey of Dhumbarahi, among others, had provided financial support to Kala Devi.
