Bajura Chamber of Commerce and Industry has honoured Bajura reporter of The Himalayan Times daily Prakash Singh for his coverage of the social sector, in the 19th General Assembly in Martadi today.
Chief Guest, former state minister of Land Reform Janak Raj Giri honoured Singh with a shawl. Singh, who is also the chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bajura, has been working in this daily for a decade now.
According to Bajura Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Singh has been honoured for his contribution to uplift of backward people of remote areas by covering their stories in the national daily. BCCI said that Singh was also involved in social service along with journalism.
Singh rescued as many as 71 helpless children through his writing. He has also collected fund and helped more than a dozen poor people for their medical treatment.
Singh had also rescued children, who had dropped out of school due to poverty.
Founder Chairman Daya Ram Pandit of Bajura FNJ said that Singh helped the helpless women with his meeting allowances. He said that Singh offered meeting allowances worth Rs 65,300 to the victims.
