KATHMANDU, JUNE 8

CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that his party had some grudges against ruling coalition partners, yet he is committed to keeping the coalition intact even after parliamentary and provincial polls.

Addressing a programme here today, Nepal said his party fared well in Pokhara Metropolitan City and Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, but in some places they did not do well in the last local polls mainly due to two reasons: the party relied too much on the coalition and in some places ruling coalition partners betrayed the CPN (US).

He said attempts were being made to split the ruling coalition, but his party would not let that happen.

Nepal told his party rank and file to prepare for parliamentary and provincial polls that could happen between mid-October and mid-November.

Talking about Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's decision not to replace CPN (US) ministers in his Cabinet as desired by Madhav Kumar Nepal, CPN (US) chair said the new ministers were not inducted in the Cabinet mainly because other ruling coalition partners stalled the move, fearing that there would be pressure on their leadership from within the party to replace their ministers as well.

He saw no reason to blame his party's ministers for stalling the Cabinet reshuffle. Nepal took exception to party General Secretary Beduram Bhusal's view that party ministers did not obey the party's decision to recall four CPN (US) ministers and replace them with new ones.
