Tilganga Institute of Ophthamalogy is preparing to set up community eye care centre in Nijgadh, Bara.

Nepal Eye Programme executive member Siddhilal Shrestha  of Tilganga Institute of Ophthamalogy and Nijgadh Municipality Mayor Suresh Khanal recently signed an agreement to this effect at a programme organised in Nijgadh.

The municipality has provided 10 katta land, which is in the name of Primary Health Centre, for the construction of the eye centre. Shrestha said, “The construction will start within three months.”

The eye centre’s financial transactions, administration and operation, among other things, will be conducted as per Tilganga Institute of Ophthamalogy’s regulation. Shrestha said Tilganga Institute of Ophthamalogy would manage experts, technicians, equipment, staff and their salary, among others. Mayor Khanal said the municipality took the initiative to set up the eye centre as per the need of the people.
