Time now to implement peace treaty: Leaders

Kathmandu, November 24:

Political leaders today stressed the need to fully implement the recently-signed peace accord.

The signing of the comprehensive peace accord has widened political, social and economic horizons, they said, adding that the accord will lose credibility in “the eyes of the world” if it is not implemented in full.

Speaking at an interaction at the Dialogue Club, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Arjun Narsingh

KC stressed the need to implement the peace accord properly.

Constituent assembly elections cannot be conducted in an environment free from terror if past agreements are not followed and implemented, the Nepali Congress leader further said.

“Mere signing of the accord is not sufficient,” Dr Narayan Khadka of the NC (Democratic) said, adding, “Time has come for the parties and the government to focus on the implementation of the accord.”

RPP leader Khem Raj Pandit expressed concern over the “big-brotherly” attitude of the seven-party alliance.

Janamorcha Nepal leader Navaraj Subedi raised concern over the delay in publicising the Rayamajhi Report.
