TMDP announces fresh agitation
Kathmandu, March 24:
The Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) today decided to start a fresh stir from mid-April to pressurise the government to meet its demands.
“Programmes of protest rallies, mass meetings and bandhs will be made public later,” said TMDP spokesperson Sarbendra Nath Shukla, adding, the decision was made during the party’s two-day central executive meeting which concluded today.
The TMDP had started its first round of agitation on January 1 by withdrawing its support for
the government.
“Our demands include ensuring “autonomous Madhes province”, scrapping the Ministry of Culture and State Restructuring and forming independent state restructuring commission, holding nationwide census before restructuring the country, returning the properties seized by the Maoists during the conflict, ending the state of anarchy in industries and stopping attacks against the press and industries ,” Shukla said.
