A two-year-old boy died after being hit by a school bus in Bagmati Municipality of Sarlahi on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred around 9:00 am on an inner road near the Ncell tower at Sano Dabari in Ward-2, when a school bus (Na 1 Ka 7382) belonging to Sagun Shiksha Residential School struck the child, identified as Yanas Gole, son of a local resident Shyam Gole. He died on the spot, according to the District Police Office, Sarlahi.
Police said the bus was en route from Jirayat to Hariwan when the accident took place.
Following the incident, a police team deployed from Dungrekhola Police Post and Area Police Office, Hariwan, took the bus and its driver, 50-year-old Surya Bahadur Thapa of Hariwan Municipality-11, into custody for investigation.
The body remains at the incident site, and further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
