Top priority of govt is development of people, says Thapa

Hetauda, March 3

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa today claimed that economic development and people’s prosperity were the key concerns of the incumbent government.

Inaugurating the National Industrial Trade Fair in Hetauda, DPM Thapa argued that economic prosperity of the country was not far if all the people worked hard.

He openly lauded the relentless contribution of the private sector and sought proper support for the government’s initiatives for economic prosperity.

Hinting at the hours-long daily load shedding schedule facing entrepreneurs, he said the government was working in such a way that it would end the black-out within a year.

“The government has been preparing to generate above 10,000 MW electricity within 10 years. Preparations to develop Hetauda as a new industrial estate is also under way,” he claimed.

DPM Thapa said that the country had slipped 20-years-back in terms of economic development due to the decade-long insurgency. He said, “We pushed the country economically back due to our political animosity.

Hence, we need to overcome political egoism,” he said. He said he is making effort to establish cordial relations with the southern neighbour for easy market for Nepalese products.
