One more person, who had fallen ill after consuming toxic mushroom, died in Raksirang Rural Municipality, Makawanpur, last night.

With this, the death toll from consumption of poisonous mushroom has reached two.

Bardalal Chepang, 19, who was taken ill after consuming mushroom died while being treated at Bharatpur Hospital last night.

Earlier, Bardalal’s younger sister Bunjimaya had died from the consumption of toxic mushroom. After Bunjimaya died, her father Dip Bahadur, brothers Bardalal and Som Singh were airlifted to Chitwan-based Bharatpur Hospital for treatment. A week after being admitted to the hospital, Bardalal breathed his last.

Bardalal’s younger brother Som Singh, 7, is under the ventilator at Chitwan Medical College. “Condition of father Dip Bahadur, however, has improved significantly”, said Anjan Poudel, a local.
