TIFA's third meeting to be held tomorrow

KATHMANDU: Nepal and the United States will sit for talks in Kathmandu on Thursday for the third Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) meeting.

The TIFA agreement was signed between Nepal and the US on April 15, 2011 with an objective to enhancing bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.

The agreement also aims to facilitate the promotion of Nepali products and services in the US markets as well as attracting American investment to Nepal.

The Nepali team will be led by Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce, Naindra Prasad Upadhyay where high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Investment Board and Department of Food Technology and Quality Control among others will participate, according to Spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce Rabi Shankar Sainju.

The high-ranking officials from the concerned government bodies of the US government are already in Kathmandu to participate in the meeting.
