Traffic awareness programme launched

District Police Office, Rautahat has launched an awareness programme among school children aiming to minimise road accidents in the district.

The police, along with grade X students of Garuda Higher Secondary School and Gehadi Higher Secondary School at Garuda Municipality, conducted the programme.

SP Ganesh Regmi said that incidents of road accidents would fall if children were given knowledge of traffic rules and regulations, which is why the programme was launched. He added that the programme would be more fruitful if the students shared the learned knowledge with their family members.

The number of two-wheelers has increased tremendously in Rautahat of late, increasing risks of accidents.

SP Regmi said that most accidents involve two-wheelers in the district, as many people speed their bikes with two pillion riders.

SP Regmi also said that traffic checking system was in place in Gaur, Garuda, and Chandranigahapur among other places of the district.

He claimed that incidents of road accidents had fallen after the police team carried out checking along with traffic awareness programmes in the district.
