Traffic jam in Prithvi Highway results in death of kidney patient

DHADING: The traffic congestion at Nagdhunga-Naubise road section of Prithvi Highway has resulted in a death Friday.

Ruplal Sah (35), of Garuda Municipality-8 in Rautahat district, who was travelling from Rautahat to Kathmandu for the treatment of his kidney ailment died Friday morning inside the bus he was travelling in, near Hulakdanda at Thakre Rural Municipality-2, along the highway.

According to Babulal Shrestha, sub-inspector and incharge of Mahadevbesi Police Post, Sah and his relatives had taken a night bus (Na 7 Kha 5364) from Garuda Municipality, Rautahat for Kathmandu on Thursday evening.

The bus had reached Mahadevbesi at 2:00 am on Friday but was stuck there till 5:00 am. Usually, when there is no road obstruction it takes only about an hour to reach Kathmandu from Mahadevbesi.

The road section has been obstructed for four days due to the ongoing maintenance from Nagdhunga of Kathmandu to Khanikhola in Dhading, due to which the vehicles are being allowed to ply one-way only. Similarly, the damaged freight vehicles being parked at various locations of the highway has also caused impediment in vehicular movement.

On Friday morning, the vehicles entering Kathmandu was lined up to Galchi, which is at a distance of 50 kilometres from the capital.
