DAMAULI: Tanahun District Education Officer Top Bahadur Shrestha said children’s performance should be assessed not on the ground of rote learning.

Inaugurating a training organised by Damauli Source Centre on Friday, DEO Shrestha said, “Children’s performance should be evaluated in terms of their creativity and learning, not on their capacity to memorise.”

He urged the teachers to implement the knowledge and skills learned in the training in classrooms. Assistant DEO Ram Prasad Sharma said it  would help assess students’ performance in a pragmatic manner.

Narayandutta Paudel, of the centre, said they had organised the programme with a view to making the examination system scientific.

As many as 64 teachers from 32 schools of Byas Municipality participated in the training.
