Transitional justice should promote reconciliation, says Yami
Kathmandu, March 4
New Force Campaign leader Hishila Yami today said issues of transitional justice should be addressed on the basis of international norms taking into consideration Nepal’s own special situations.
Addressing an interaction organised by her party, Yami said serious offences committed during the conflict must be punished but reconciliation should be promoted in other cases.
She said conflict victims, whose loved ones were killed or injured during the conflict, had not received relief on par with the families of security personnel.
Yami said if the feudal attitude of the political parties did not change, Nepal could still witness more conflicts and in that case the transition would only prolong.
