Transport fares reduced
Palpa, August 10:
A meeting held today between government officials, political parties, civil society, service-seekers and bus entrepreneurs decided to reduce fares of vehicles plying on different routes in Palpa by 10 to 15 per cent from today.
Chairman of the Shree Nagar Transport Entrepreneurs Committee, Dil Bahadur Dhungana, said, “We won’t be able to ply the vehicles reducing the transport fares. “The fares on eastern and western routes and that applicable in remote areas should not be reduced.”
“We voiced our discontentment at the meeting. We will be compelled to halt our services if the decision is not revoked,” he said.
Chief district officer of Palpa Bal Krishna Panthi said the roads of Palpa district have been divided into ‘Ka’, ‘Kha’ and ‘Ga’ categories. “The fares for buses and jeeps will be as fixed by the government.”
Meanwhile, the Western Nepal Bus Entrepreneurs’ Committee today decided to provide 33 per cent discount in bus fares to students who show their identity cards.
