Transport strike affects passengers in Bardiya
GULARIYA: The Krishnasar Transport Entrepreneur Committee (KTEC) in Bardiya has halted the operation of its vehicles for the past three days, seriously affecting passengers travelling to various destinations in the district.
The committee is said to have done so in order to protest the 'illegal' move of the Bheri Transport Private Limited (BTPL) to operate vehicles registered in the name of individuals.
Reacting to the ongoing protest, KTEC's Chairman Shambhu Rijal said such move of KTEC was to jeopardise the business of other transport entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, the BTPL Chairman Rajendra Giri completely denied the accusation and responded, "We have operated vehicles registered in the name of persons after going through due procedures."
The KTEC operates more than 90 public vehicles along long and short routes in and from the district.
