TU, Bharatpur metropolis to open engineering college

Chitwan, July 9

Tribhuvan University and Bharatpur metropolis are all set to establish an advanced engineering college in Rampur of Chitwan.

TU agreed to provide 40 bigaha land out of the total 394 bigaha it possessed after Agriculture and Forestry University was established on its premises of Rampur-based Agriculture Campus in the district.

They have already begun their homework on establishing engineering college.

TU Vice-Chancellor Professor Tirtha Khaniya said the university didn’t have enough finance to establish the college alone.

“Hence, we are thinking to forge cooperation with Bharatpur Metropolitan City, World Bank, Asian Development Bank as well as our neighbouring countries such as India and China,” said TU Vice-Chancellor Khaniya.

The metropolis is expected to find out relevant funds while the varsity will ensure quality education.

Meanwhile, Dean to the Department of Engineering of Tribhuvan University, Triratna Bajracharya said a team of experts in his leadership was preparing a detailed project report after a field visit.

Bharatpur Metropolis Mayor Renu Dahal said there are positive signals from discussions about running an engineering college in Rampur.

TU was running B Sc (agriculture) classes in Rampur before Agriculture and Forestry University was established there.
