JHAPA, JANUARY 31

An elderly person died after a wild tusker attacked him in Mechinagar Municipality, Jhapa, on Monday morning.

Police said that Khamba Singh Karki, 71, of the municipality died after the wild elephant crushed him when the elderly was trying to chase it away.

A critically injured Karki died in the course of treatment in Birtamod-based Birtacity Hospital, said police. Likewise, the wild elephant had also killed Ganesh Adhikari, 66, of Damak Municipality when he was irrigating the field five days ago.

Locals have submitted a memorandum to seven local levels demanding that the problem created by the elephant be addressed.

Elephant Victim Protest Committee Buddhashanti Coordinator Bhawani Prasad Dhakal-led team reached District Administration Office, Forest Division, District Coordination Committee, District Police Office, Armed Police Force, and National Research Office to submit the memorandum.
