KATHMANDU, MAY 23
Two earthquakes struck Baitadi district early this morning, sending residents rushing out of their homes.
The first tremor, measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, hit at 1:48 am with its epicentre at Khalanga, the district headquarters, according to Chintan Timalsina, head of the Earthquake Monitoring Centre in Surkhet.
A second quake of magnitude 3.7 followed shortly at 2:00 am.
Tremors were also felt in Darchula, Bajhang, and Dadeldhura districts. Authorities are yet to receive detailed reports of any damage or casualties.
