Two ANNISU-R students thrashed

Kathmandu, March 29:

Two students affiliated to All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) were severely assaulted yesterday evening in separate incidents.

According to Sovit Basnet, 19, president of Kalika Secondary School unit of ANNISU-R, he was thrashed by a group of some 30 people while he was returning home after attending a poll campaign yesterday evening. Basnet, a resident of Tekanpur VDC-2, Sindhupalchowk, is undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital.

Basnet accused that the group attacked after Jitendra Shrestha, a district committee member of CPN-UML, directed the group. He has sustained serious injury on his head and left hand.

Maoist leader and poll candidate Agni Sapkota ‘Kanchan’ today met him at Bir Hospital. In another incident, an unidentified group of six people attacked Shesh Raj Poudel, member of the Pashupati Multiple Campus unit of ANNISU-R, in Jorpati while he was returning

after participating in a poll campaign in Kathmandu constituency no. 4 yesterday evening.

Poudel, hails from Udaypur, is in an unconscious state and undergoing treatment at Kathmandu Model Hospital. He got serious injury on head, the doctors said, adding, blood has been clotted on his head.
