Police in Rautahat have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a minor following nearly six-week investigation.
Jayakishor Prasad Kushwaha's nine-year-old son Ashnarayan Prasad of Madhav Narayan Municipality-8, Piprarajawada, had gone missing since December 11. The boy was found dead days later on December 16 on the bank of the Bagmati River. Following the finding of the body, police had stepped up the probe.
At a press conference organised at the district police office today, Jayaram Mahato Koiri, 33, and Sanjaya Ram, 37, of Piprarajwada were made public.
"After the duo admitted to killing the boy by gagging him and throwing his body into the river, police have filed murder case against the two and started investigation," said SP Bir Bahadur Budha Magar, adding police have been granted a week's remand.
According police, Koiri has admitted to killing the boy by gagging him in a shed outside the village the day he went missing. They hid the body for days and as it started decomposing and giving out a bad smell, the duo had stuffed the body in a bag and dumped into the Bagmati River.
Later, police had found the body on December 16.
