Two elderly Khotang men held after 15 years of drug smuggling conviction
KHOTANG: Two men who were convicted of marijuana smuggling 15 years ago were arrested and sent to jail in Khotang district.
Nara Bahadur Magar (83) and his brother Harka Bahadur Magar (75), residents of Dikuwa-2 in Khotang, had fled along with four others after a case was filed against them at the Khotang District Court
Convicting all of them drug smuggling, the Court had slapped one year in prison and Rs 5,000 penalty on each of them.
Police said the Magar duo were held on Sunday evening when they had come to their house.
They were presented before the District Court on Monday and sent to the prison the same day for the execution of sentence.
Among the six convicts who were on the run, four others are already dead.
Earlier police had arrested Nara Bahadur's namesake, who is resident of Dikuwa-6, mistaking him for the absconding convict. He, however, was released later.
