Two held with 95 kg marijuana from Makawanpur

HETAUNDA: Police in Makawanpur district on Tuesday arrested two persons in possession of 95.4 kg marijuana.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Mahesh Aale Magar (28) and Raj Kishor Chaudhary (38), permanent residents of Harion-4 in Sarlahi district.

According to police, Aale Magar was driving the truck (Na 5 Kha 9332) with Chaudhary, who owns the vehicle.

The weed was found hidden between vegetable crates loaded on a truck from Manahari Bazaar of western Makawanpur when the vehicle was stopped for a routine security check at the Ratomate Check Post in Churiyamayai, Hetaunda-17 this morning.

The District Police Office Chief, SP Basanta Kumar Lama, said the drug was packed in five sacks.

Police suspected that the drug was being smuggled to India.

Meanwhile, police presented the suspects before the District Court and received a remand for further investigation.
