GAUSHALA: Police in Mahottari district on Wednesday reportedly arrested two persons for possessing illegal silver and elephant hair tufts in Bardibas.

The arrested have been identified as Vishraj Tiwari of Tikapur Municipality-1 in Kailali district and Laxmi Koirala of Tilaknagar in Kalikot district, according to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pravin Pokharel at the Area Police Office, Bardibas.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the duo along with 9.4 kilogrammes  of silver jewelleries  and 15,1000 units of what appeared to be elephant hair from the Bardibas-based Shish Mahal Hotel, added DSP Pokharel.

The arrested duo are being detained at the Bardibas-based Area Police Office for further investigation, informed police.

Meanwhile, police are preparing to handover the confiscated silver to Department of Revenue Investigation, Pathalaiya and object that resembled elephant tail to the District Police Office, Mahottari, said Bardibas APO.
