KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 11

Two persons died while one sustained injuries after a bus hit a motorcycle in Kanchanroop Municipality of Saptari district, today.

One of the deceased has been identified as Indian national Raju Kumar Tiwari of the Indian state of Bihar while the identity of the other deceased has yet to be ascertained.

Both of them were travelling on the motorcycle.

According to police, the incident occurred when the bus (Ga 1 Kha 9642), heading in a westward direction along the East-West Highway when it collided head-on with the motorcycle with Indian registration no (BR 36 R 8173) at Barmajhiya, injuring the motorcyclist, its pillion rider and a pedestrian.

Tiwari succumbed to his injuries on way to Biratnagar while another injured died during treatment at Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, according to the District Police Office.

The injured pedestrian, Rohan Prasad Gupta (19) of Kanchanroop-1 has been referred to Biratnagar from a local Dharmeshwor Hospital for further treatment, said police.

Meanwhile, police have impounded both vehicles involved in the incident for the further investigation, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police, Madhav Prasad Kafle.
