Two more held over death of cows

Police in Surkhet have arrested two more persons involved in the death of cows in Surkhet, from Nepalgunj, yesterday.
Earlier, of more than 200 cows and oxen en route to Dailekh from Nepalgunj-based Kanji House, 37 were found dead on the way while, others were found wandering in the forest at Katkuwa of Surkhet.
Of the two arrested, one is Police Inspector Surya Bogati of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitian City, who had taken the responsibility of ferrying the cattle to Dailekh from Nepalgunj and the other is Santripta Shrestha, who is the owner of the transport company that was entrusted with the responsibility of ferrying the animals.
According to Surkhet District Police Office Chief SP Basanta Rajaure, Bogati and Shrestha were arrested in coordination with Banke police.
“After arresting them, we have brought them to Surkhet and started investigation by obtaining remand from the district court,” the SP said.
Earlier, police had impounded five trucks used for ferrying the cows and arrested eight persons, including the drivers and two helpers.
