CHITWAN: Two people died when a rickshaw was hit by a truck at Lions Chok in Narayangadh on Saturday.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the driver of the rickshaw and its passenger died on the spot. The truck driver has been identified as Palat Shah (43) of Mathauwal VDC-9 and the passenger has been identified as Manakala Bhandari (40) of Narayani.

Police said the truck (Na 4 Kha) travelling Pulchok from Chaubiskothi hit the rickshaw near a vegetable market at Lions Chok at 6:25 am.

The truck has been impounded, however, the truck driver has fled the scene. Police said they are searching for the absconding driver.
