Two persons drowned in different ponds in Rajbiraj, Saptari, today.
Thirty-five-year-old Shivashankar Sada of Bishnupur Rural Municipality was found dead in a public pond today.
He reportedly entered the pond yesterday afternoon supposedly to pick lotus flower. A joint team of Nepal Police and Nepali Army had started a search for the man as soon they had learnt about the incident. "He was found during the search operation this afternoon," District Police Office information officer DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle said.
Separately, an infant lost his life in another drowning-related incident in Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality, Lalapatti.
Police informed that two-year-old boy Dipu Pandit drowned in the local pond.
According to DSP Kafle, the child, son of Sanjaya Pandit of Jhapa's Ghailadubba, had drowned in a local pond in Lalpatti. He was rescued in injured condition and died while being rushed to the hospital, the police officer informed.
