GALKOT: Baglung District Police Office (DPO) has recently suspended two police personnel for thrashing a local resident of Galkot Municipality-6 in the district.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Dipak Regmi at the DPO, Police constables Prem Singh Bista (35) and Buddha Thapa (30) were suspended for departmental action after they thrashed local Som Bahadur Basnet (40) following a minor verbal dispute on January 13. Basnet was critically injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, Bista and Thapa have been kept at Harichaur-based Area Police Office for further investigations while injured Basnet has been receiving treatment at Pokhara-based Phewa City Hospital, SP Regmi informed. He said that the security personnel involved in thrashing will be held responsible for the treatment of the victim.

According to a family source, Basnet has inflicted deep injuries on his body and needs major surgery.
