BAJURA, AUGUST 3

Two pregnant women from Bajura were rescued today.

Jeni Rai Nath, 32, of Jagannath Rural Municipality and Manu Regmi Padhya, 31, of Budhinanda Municipality were suffering from labour pain for the last four days.

Chief District Officer Prakash Chandra Adhikari said the women were airlifted.

He said Jeni was rescued from Sanphebagar, Achham, while Manu was rescued from Kolti, Bajura, by Nepali Army Helicopter. Jeni was waiting for helicopter in District Hospital, Bajura, for the last two days. The helicopter that had rescued Jeni from Sanphebagar was used to rescue Manu this afternoon.

The helicopter could not reach Bajura due to inclement weather yesterday.

The women were rescued under President Woman Uplift Programme. Relatives had taken Jeni to Kolti Primary Health Centre on Sunday. But the health centre referred Jeni to a Nepalgunj-based health facility on Monday night.

Dr Jasmita Balampaki at the district hospital said that the hospital referred the women to another health facility after treatment was impossible in the hospital. She said that the women were rescued after extreme labour pain. The women are in a Nepalgunj-based health facility.
