UCPN-Maoists guided by arms: Deuba
Mahendranagar, March 28:
Senior leader of the Nepali Congress and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today accused the Unified CPN-Maoist of trying to impose dictatorship and a rule of arms in the nation.
Inaugurating the far-western regional conference of Nepal Trade Union Congress-Independent here today, Deuba said the Maoists were trying to terrorise people instead of providing peace and security to them. He also accused the Maoist of failing to control the increasing impunity in the nation. “The Maoists have not been able to develop democratic norms and values. Actually, democratic norms are not possible in their party,” Deuba said, accusing the Maoists of not working as per the people’s sentiments.
Saying that the Maoists were not accepting the verdict of the independent court, he wondered, “How can they strengthen democracy when they are not abiding by the court’s decision?”
