UCPNM protests irrelevant: Pokhrel
CHITWAN: Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokhrel on Friday said that Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was a representative of the civilian supremacy as he was backed by the majority of the political parties representing the Legislature Parliament.
Addressing a programme in Chitwan Minister Pokhrel said that the present government would not be toppled at any cost irrespective of the UCPN-Maoist protest programmes. He also said that they were ready to hold discussion in the parliament if UCPN-Maoist dropped the issue regarding the President’s move to reinstate CoAS Katawal to his post. He accepted that the UPCN-Maoist was a big force but not the complete force as it lacked the majority to represent the parliament.
In another programme of Press Chautari on the same day, Pokhrel said that the government would not be affected by Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala's refusal to join the PM's India trip.
