UDAYPUR: Udayapur district was declared an open defecation free zone at a function organised in Gaighat of the district on Wednesday. There are three municipalities and 40 VDCs in the district. The district was declared as the 33rd ODF district after all households built toilets. District Drinking Water and Sanitation Coordination Committee said the district was the first ODF district in Sagarmatha Zone. At the programme, Minister of State for Urban Development Manju Kumari Chaudhary said the district was the first in the Sagarmatha Zone to be declared ODF. Meanwhile, sanitation envoy Sitaram Kattel, folk singer Bom Bahadur Karki and the local artistes had organized cultural programmes to celebrate the achievement.
