Udayapur woman kidnapped, gang-raped in Siraha
SIRAHA: Police in Siraha district, on Thursday, made public three of the five persons reportedly arrested on the charge of kidnapping and gang-raping a woman. Two others involved in the gang rape are still at large, according to police.
In a press meet organised at Siraha District Police office (DPO), police identified the arrested as Ram Prakash Goit (24) and Ganesh Kumar Yadav of Siraha Municipality-9, and Chaturanand Yadav alias Nathuni (22) of Siraha-8.
A group of five youths allegedly carried off a woman in a Mahindra Scorpio, a four-wheeler vehicle (BR 32P 4262), at Lahan Municipality and gang-raped her at Laxmipur Patari, on Wednesday night, according to Chief of the DPO, Superintendent of Police (SP) Uma Prasad Chaturvedi.
The victim, a resident of Udayapur district had attended 'Durga Mela' — a fair held in Lahan on the occasion of Bada Dashain — and was heading towards a bus station to go home when the group of youths took her as hostage and forced her way into the vehicle before gang-raping her, police informed.
On frisking those arrested, police seized eight rounds of bullets and 300 Nitravet (10 mg) tablets from their possession.
Meanwhile, police have registered cases of kidnap, rape, and drug dealing against those arrested and proceeded with further investigation into the case.
