UDMF lawmakers continue to boycott Parliament meeting

KATHMANDU: The lawmakers of the parties associated with the United Democratic Madhesi Front have boycotted the Legislature-Parliament meeting today as well.

The UDMF lawmakers stood from their seats, opposed the agenda for the day and walked out of the House chanting slogans.

As soon as the meeting commenced, lawmaker Dimple Kumari Jha of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party demanded a special committee to probe into the incidents that occurred in Saptari and Nepalgunj.

She also stated that police repression had resulted in loss of human lives.

Jha opposed the agenda of today's meeting saying that the Constitution amendment bill was not mentioned as the agenda earlier.

Instead of the bill, the Parliament discussed local level elections and continued to hurt the sentiment of UDMF, Jha stated.

She appealed to Speaker Onsari Gharti to seek solution through parliamentary debate itself.

The UDMF had hoped the incumbent government would address their demands, Jha stated, adding that they have been betrayed.
