UK to explain bias against Gurkhas

KATHMANDU: After staff of the Home Ministry and lawyers of the UK failed to describe the basis for discrimination against Gurkha Army, Royal Court of Justice, the supreme court of the UK, has ordered the UK government to furnish its reply within 28 days. The court was

responding to a petition filed at the initiation of Gurkha Ex Army Association by VC Pun and Ghaitai Rai on July 11. A release stated that the order was issued by a single bench of judge Jerashi Sulibhan.

Chairperson of Gurkha Ex army Association Padma Bahadur Gurung said the court would issue

its verdict by September-end. The next hearing is schedule for September 16 and 17.
