HETAUDA, JANUARY 31

CPN-UML candidates have clinched victory in the election of two provincial assembly committees in Bagmati Province. UML candidates had only filed candidacies for vacant positions of presidents of the Finance and Development Committee and Education, Health, and Agriculture Committee of the provincial assembly.

UML candidates Narayan Bahadur Silwal and Keshav Prasad Pokhrel were elected presidents of the Finance and Development Committee and Education, Health and Agriculture Committee respectively.

Both of them gained 12 votes each.

Province Assembly Speaker Sanu Kumar Shrestha administered oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected committee presidents.

The deadline to file candidacy for the posts were until 5:00pm yesterday.

Only UML had filed its candidacies for the positions; the coalition didn't file candidacies for the positions as both the committees had UML majority and it was almost sure that UML candidates would win.

Finance Committee and the next committee have 20 and 19 respectively.

Of them, UML has 12 members in each of the committees.
