KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 5

CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, who is currently on a China visit, proposed for direct flight operation between Pokhara International Airport and China's Chongqing city.

General-Secretary Pokharel, who is in China for a 12-day visit at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), put forth the proposal in the meeting between the politburo member of the CPC and the Nepali delegation led by Pokharel.

The meeting was held in the Chongqing City, a city bearing 3,000 years of history and been an important political, economic and strategic centre in China's west. The City is also known to be the municipality with high density.

During the event, General-Secretary Pokharel mentioned that the ties between Arniko and Bhrikuti had been friendly for a long time and the visit of then CPN (UML) Chairperson Manmohan Adhikari to China in the capacity of Prime Minister of Nepal had further bolstered the Nepal-China relations.

Furthermore, Pokharel, also former Deputy Prime Minister said that important trade agreements and treaties were inked between Nepal and China during his party Chairperson and then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli visit to China was deemed important for Nepal's trade route with third countries.

He shared that his party wished for effective implementation of those agreements and treaties.
